First Blog Post
Hi all, and welcome!
In my first blog post I would like to talk about what I am coming to feel is the most important part to improve your golf swing, "Wrist Angles".
Time and time again I see how wrist angles can help improve both the quality of strike as well as the overall direction control. In my opinion players will play better more often if we simplify the way that they get to the golf ball. The way to simplify the swing is to get the club face to stay as square to the path as long as possible throughout the entire motion. In order to do that you will need to get your wrists to work differently than what conventional wisdom would tell you.
What I am suggesting is having some "Ulnar Deviation" as well as some "Flexion" in the lead wrist throughout the entire motion. The wrists should work into those positions right away in the motion and should stay in that location all the way throughout the follow through. With the wrists in that position, the club face will be stronger and the shaft is going to be more laid off at the top which will lead to a shallower down swing, which would help a majority of the golfers that I teach on a daily basis. From there it makes it much easier to rotate the body through impact and have a consistent club face position.
So, if you are looking to improve your game and would like hit the golf ball more solid and have a more predictable ball flight I highly suggest you consider altering your wrist angles.
